This handsome little guy was perched smack in the middle of our garden path the other day soaking up the sun rays as if there was no tomorrow. It had been a good long while since we'd seen El Sol, so I completely understood his obsession. No matter how many times I strolled past him, clapped my hands, or waved my arms... he just sat there. Basking. Firmly grounded to Mother Terra and precisely oriented to maximize his southern exposure. After several passes I figured he must be injured so I finally reached down to transfer him to safety and... boinggg....he sprang off into the weeds which camouflaged him quite nicely once again. Sometimes you have to stand your ground. At others, it's better to blend in!

The Perfect Place
Jory & Jackie's new house is finally underway...the saga begins! Building your own house ranks right up there in difficulty with being your own boss, and maybe even natural childbirth. All are extremely challenging. But all are immensely rewarding too. Ask me how I know.
I expect they'll be making soap and packing orders at lightning speed now (as if they weren't already) so they can knock off a little early to add another board...drive another nail. They're also putting in a huge organic garden and then there's the chickens and fruit trees to tend to. Progress will be slow, no doubt...but then few things in life worth having ever come easy, do they?
Their little shangri-la is at the southeast corner of our property, just south of the soap shop. I think they've chosen a beautiful spot to build their lives in, don't you? The perfect place to raise grandkids too. Ask me how I know.
