Why? Because it's caused by toxic chemicals! PVC shower curtains contain high levels of harmful phthalates, organotins, and VOC's (volatile organic compounds). Now there's really no such thing as a good VOC, but the ones wafting off of your PVC shower curtain are really nasty. The good news is that Sears, Kmart and Target are voluntarily phasing out their toxic PVC shower curtains.
